Eddie South at Cafè Society by William Gottlieb (1946)

Eddie South (1904-1962) was an American violinist. He began his career in the 1920’s working in such Chicago bands as Jimmy Wade’s Syncopators, the Charlie Elgar Band, and Erskine Tate.
He was impressed by Gipsy melodies and used these in his jazz improvisations.
He worked with Django Reinhardt and Stephane Grappelli.
